Retro Computer Festival 2022

We recently had the pleasure of showing off our Viewdata and Dial Up services at the Retro Computer Festival 2022 at The Centre for Computing History in Cambridge.

The Retro Computer Festival was a 2 day event with 20+ exhibitors showing off everything from an impressive collection of Dragon 32s to a Nintendo Famicom and everything in between.

To demonstrate Viewdata we took a long a BBC Micro with a Pace Nightingale Modem, and a dedicated Philips Terminal - an export version of the Minitel 2 used in France.

On the Dial Up side we had a Bush Surf Set - a Set Top Box from the early 2000s that allowed you to surf the world wide web on a standard television, and a vtech postbox emailer, a small device that allowed you to send and receive emails with its onboard 4800 baud modem.

We also dispelled the rumours that faxing was dead by demonstrating a fax machine that could print off a randomised sudoku puzzle, a Bonfire night themed page to colour in, and a Nyancat!

A big thank you to the organisers, the museum, the exhibitors and everyone that attended - we can’t wait to attend the next one!
